A Sad Tail
I fell I must pass on this sad Tale.
It all started with the Baywatch Blat and a bad tick over, and revs very slow to decay.
After searching the web, found lots of tips, and it looked to me as if it was a problem with the IACv / Stepper motor. So Sunday set to clean valve as new one is over £100-00 simpl job, it said so on the web.
It all started well till I dropped a torx bit down the side of the engine, no problem it fell onto O/S Eng mount , will pickup in a minute, First Lessson if you drop it no matter how small, stop and find it and pick it up. Removed IACV this looks good, thik with black soot, cleaned as per web using brake cleaner, refitted, started car all looking good. Refitted last one or two hoses, picked up tools, pick up torx bit that I dropped, bad news no where in sight never mind must be on drive will find when I move car. Wash up road test time.
Damn, still the same, never mind nice day for a drivelets go for a spin, hard left, hard right one hell of a noise think I have found torx bit, looks like that one in a mimillion as happend and its found its way into the bell housing, very slow drive home. Bad nights sleep thing engine and gearbox out lots of money.
Next day take car to work, yes I do work in a garage, but not on the shop floor, ask very nice fitter to have a look at car, by now no noise? Remove starter and rubber boot round Clutch relase arm, spend the next half hour ith magnet on flexible arm fishing in bell housing no luck. Sensus of opinion is that it got stuck in the machings in the front face of flywheel and as it came to a stop it spat it out the hole it went in, lets hope so. As fitter was looking at car told him the reason I was working on car, he removed main lead to ECU blow out with air line, cleaed and refitted and said that will fix the problem.
Lesson Two
A little knowledge can be a dangerous tool, leave it to the experts.
Monday evening take car out to fill with fuel, throw it about a bit, so far OK.
